Artist Statement
This exhibition was held in the Studio Gallery at the Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart, directly next to my working studio. It intends to share a glimpse into the playful, imprecise and beginning stage of my creative process. The photographs, badly printed, incomplete, sometimes ripped, drawn on, stepped on and over, photocopied, drawn on again, enlarged, reduced, stuck together, are lucid little portals, contracting and expanding, alluding to possibilities, just out of reach, multitudinous, transmutable, and treasured. Nothing is set in order and no one photograph more important than another, I never know when I might accidentally see something, upside down or in part, that unexpectedly presents the potential of a painting.
